Learning the Program

To get use to using the R&S Marker’s program we recommend starting with a preloaded template to understand how to edit images and type.

Replacing Text

  • Select the text you would like to replace.

  • Type in the next text you would like to add. You can also update the font, size and alignment at this time.

Adding Text

  • Right-click anywhere in the blank template screen outside of the new image box and select the “add text field” option.

  • Once completed you will notice a small text box similar to the shape/size of the add image box.

  • Click anywhere in the small text box to see the dashed border. In the same fashion as the image field, you can stretch and size the text box from top to bottom and left to right by grabbing the small squares and dragging until you reach the desired text box size.

  • Now you can add text and verbiage as needed.

  • At the top of the program toolbar, click the “T” icon and you will notice the cursor now blinking in the text box field.

  • Proceed by typing your desired text (example “Carts”). Highlight the text you write with the cursor and change the font size by using the font size option in the toolbar.

Replacing an Image

  • Right Click on the image you would like to replace.

  • Choose a new image to replace the existing image.

  • Updated marker with new image.

Saving an Image

  • When you find images that you would like to use and that you plan to use more than once for your signage needs, it is recommended that you save in the R&S Markers folder so that these images can be called up at a later time (Example: logos, images, etc) and are all stored in one convenient folder.

  • When you find an image, logo or picture that you would like to use, click “save as” and a browser search field will open.

  • Click the down arrow in the search field and follow these steps: Preload (C:), Program Files, R&S Markers.

  • Make sure that the picture is saved as a JPEG file (bottom field of browser box that indicates file type).

  • When you are working in the R&S Markers program at a later date and you are “adding an image” you can find the file in the same folder R&S Markers directory.

  • When prompted to locate the picture, the browser should already be searching in the Preload (C:) drive so simply select the program files folder, then R&S Markers to find your saved image, logo or picture.

Adding an Image

  • Select this option to start your template with a picture or image.

  • Once selected, you will see a small square box with a dashed line bordering the image box.

  • You can grab the smaller square boxes around the border of the image field to stretch and size as you desire.

  • Once you are ready to insert an image or picture, simply right-click anywhere in the image box and you will be prompted with a screen to locate the picture you wish to insert (replace/insert image option).

  • A file browser will open to locate the picture in your computer files then click the picture you wish to insert.

  • Once selected, the picture will be inserted into the box. You can right-click over the picture again to “stretch-to-fit”. Drag and adjust the picture, logo or image as you wish.

Next Steps

  • Repeat the steps for Add image and Add text to create/add additional pictures, logos, images and text. You can complete your signs with multiple pictures and multiple text boxes as needed to create your signage needs.

  • You can also choose two (2) other icons on the top toolbar to complete or add-to your signage needs. Next to the “T” for text writing, you will notice a “B” and eyeglass icon.

  • By choosing “B” for BACKGROUND you will notice a blanket, large image box appear over your sign. Right-click anywhere in the background and select the replace/insert image option.

  • In the same fashion that you located the image file, you will be prompted to choose the background file. This can be an all one color that you saved from a paint program on your computer or simply a background image that you would like to select.

  • By choosing the “eyeglass” icon you can preview the sign design without the text/ picture boxes appearing.

  • When you are finished, you will be prompted to save your sign design for future use.

  • Using your Laser Printer, load the enclosed self-adhesive acetate paper (5.5” x 8.5”) sheets width-wise.

  • After selecting print, click the adjustments tab.

  • Once in print adjustments, you can adjust the printer output registration in 1/32” increments for top to bottom and left to right until your printed sign is perfectly center on the acetate paper.

  • Once you have your printer configured to accept and print on the acetate paper (provided in this package) you are ready to start printing and enjoying the benefit of customizing your own signage needs.

  • If printing landscape, proceed to the following instructions.

  • At the top of the screen on the toolbar you will find the utilities tab.

  • Click utilities then preferences to select the correct printing parameters for paper alignment.

  • The first task is to select the correct printer paper feed; either edge justified or centered.

  • Test your printer by running through one sheet of paper to determine which option fits your printer.

  • Next, you will notice a field that indicates landscape printing right edge or left edge; again select the option that coincides with your printer function.

Once printed, follow below steps to affix the adhesive-backed acetate paper and align on the front of the marker using the faint alignment ridge on the top left-hand side of the front-side of the marker.

NOTE: When placing the self-adhesive acetate paper on the marker, please ensure that the paper and marker are attached in room temperature and applied when cool, not warm.

  • Step 1: Prepare your blank marker and printed sign on acetate paper.

  • Step 2: Begin to peel back the acetate paper from paper backing (from one of the left- hand side corners).

  • Step 3: fold back about 1/2” of the acetate paper from paper backing, all along left-hand side (as displayed above).

  • Step 4: Affix the 1/2” peeled back acetate paper to the front marker surface below the alignment line, up and down the left-hand side.

  • Step 5: Position your hand over the left-hand part of the acetate paper.

  • Step 6: Begin to massage your hand up and down, slowly across the surface of the acetate paper, while slowly moving from left to right.

  • Step 7: Continue this motion until the paper backing separates from the acetate and the completed sign is affixed to the marker (as demonstrated above).

Finished Marker

You can now place the marker in the ground. Grab the marker with both hands at the top of the pointed stakes, directly below the sign and slowly push the marker into the ground.
